SUMMARY:Good practice around PPIE (Patient & Public Involvement & Engagement)- Perspectives of people with dementia
DESCRIPTION:Hear from people with dementia and carers about how they want to be involved in research. Get ideas about how to build them into your research. Learn about the approaches that work and feel the best. Consider some of the complexities of involvement. \nA conversation based workshop which informs and inspires. \nAims and objectives \n\nLearn about what people with dementia and carers mean by PPIE and co-production\nConsider how PPIE and co-production might relate to technology and the different themes of BRIDGES\nDemonstrate and discuss best practice techniques to support the involvement of people with lived experience of dementia in research\nEnable participants to critically consider issues that might arise when working with people with dementia and carers\, together or separately\n\nWhat attendees will get out of it \n\nClear guidelines around PPIE and co-production in dementia research\nOpportunity to hear directly from people with dementia and carers\nIdeas about how to write about your approach to PPIE and co-production in any application you make to BRIDGES or other funding bodies for research funding\nEvidence of knowledge and engagement with lived experience that can be shared when applying to BRIDGES for research funding.\nFurther information about the ECR Masterclass programme taking place over summer 2026\n\nTarget audience \n\nEarly career researchers (PDRAs\, PhDs\, Fellows or junior academics)\nThose new to involving people with dementia and carers in research\nThose considering applying to BRIDGES for research funding\n\nParticipation requirements & logistics \n\nFormat: online only\nDuration: 1.5 hours.\nCameras OFF required please for the duration of the presentation by people with dementia and carers; you will be invited to turn your camera on nearer to the end for Q&A\n\nTo find out more about our delivery partner\, please visit the Innovations In Dementia website.

SUMMARY:Designing for Sight: How Dementia Changes Vision- An Experiential Online Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Come and explore how dementia impacts your sight. Putting yourself in the shoes of a person with dementia: how might you respond\, what might help you? How might this inform your research? Your practice? \nAn interactive and experiential online workshop which informs and inspires. \nAims and objectives \n\nRaise awareness that dementia affects more than memory. Vision and other senses can change in ways many designers and researchers don’t expect.\nDemonstrate specific vision issues common in dementia and practical mitigations.\nFoster researcher and technology-provider thinking about real-world impact and funding-aligned relevance.\nEnable participants to critically evaluate and adapt designs\, prototypes\, and study plans to be more dementia-inclusive.\n\nWhat attendees will get out of it \n\nClear\, actionable guidelines for designing indoor/outdoor spaces\, interfaces\, and devices that account for dementia-related visual changes.\nHands-on experience simulating the impact of dementia on sight.\nConcrete examples (e.g.\, colour/contrast choices for buttons\, signage legibility\, reducing visual clutter) that can be applied immediately.\nIdeas for strengthening research proposals and product roadmaps to increase relevance and impact for people living with dementia.\nPeer discussion\, feedback\, and practical next steps.\n\nTarget audience \n\nResearchers and technology providers working on indoor and outdoor environments\, assistive tech\, UX/UI\, smart homes\, wayfinding and urban design.\nIndustry practitioners\, designers\, and anyone involved in technical solutions at any career stage.\nThose considering funding applications who want to increase the dementia-relevance and impact of their work.\n\nParticipation requirements & logistics \n\nDuration: 1.5 hours.\nHighly interactive: participants will be expected to take part in activities and breakout rooms.\nCameras ON required: please join focused and free from multitasking.\nRecommended device: laptop or desktop (preferred over tablet/phone) for best interactive experience.\n\nTo find out more about the workshop delivery partner\, please visit the Enrichment for the Elderly website \nPlaces will be limited\, so please register here early to avoid disappointment.

SUMMARY:Ideas and Innovation Event on the Indoor & Outdoor theme
DESCRIPTION:The BRIDGES Network+ challenges the traditional focus on basic physical needs that result in technologies primarily used for safety\, surveillance and monitoring. Instead\, we aim to empower people with dementia to be in charge of what they want to do by co-designing technologies that support holistic health\, social connection\, and continued participation in communities. \nThis event is dedicated entirely to our first core theme: Indoor and outdoor spaces. Indoor and outdoor environments can be confusing to navigate and often present challenges such as poor natural light\, uneven surfaces\, changing light conditions\, and lack of seating. \nWho this event is for: \n\nPeople with lived experience of dementia\nResearchers with knowledge of science\, engineering\, design or technology related to indoor and outdoor spaces\nCompanies and service providers with relevant expertise\n\nRegister on the TicketTailor link below to learn more. \nThe agenda for the day is now available here.
